“Selfies with a Social Conscious” in a nutshell describes
images that can sum up a thought, idea, or opinion within matters of seconds of
and individual viewing it. Selfies have become popular within modern social
media especially with the development of the application SnapChat.
A “selfie” is essentially a picture of oneself,
however in other cases it can be a bio or professional picture that will give a
perception of that person instantly. When another individual views the “selfie”
they will, within the first 10 seconds, make judgments and assemble an opinion
about that persons personality and character. Additionally, these images can
also be used to sum up, in one picture, a social issue or observation, as seen
in the blog “What I Eat”. This is a different type of selfie, however it can
still be placed within this category. Each picture is able to overview each
cultures through the aspects of what foods they eat.

a place where people can submit picture of what they carry in their pockets on
a daily basis. This is interesting because depending on where an individual lives,
how old they are, ore their occupation, there are differences in what they
carry on their person. It is able to sum up in one picture the social
differences of every day life.
